The work we do at TSEDAL stands on three foundational pillars that drive our mission:
ART.
ENVIRONMENT. ECONOMY.
These pillars represent the core areas of focus and causes that we stand for, serving as vehicles to propel us towards achieving our organizational goals.
Pillar 1: Art
Strategy 1: Advocacy for Art-Integrated Learning
Art integration boosts student learning outcomes across subjects significantly. We advocate for broader adoption of art-integrated curriculums by working with policymakers, administrators, educators, and families.
We also collaborate with schools to demonstrate artist-in-residence programs that creatively engage with students. If you would like to have us visit your school or conduct a workshop, please reach out to us here.
Strategy 2: Facilitate Arts Access
Advocacy alone cannot drive lasting change; action is required. We design and deliver both short term arts workshops and long-term programs that creatively equip teachers and artists to impact their communities.
We also partner with NGOs and schools to build an arts education, which helps us unlock creative opportunities for underserved students and artists alike; and facilitate workshops that give teaching artists tools to spread messages of social justice.
Strategy 1: Environmental Action
Tangible change starts with action. Our environmental action projects focus on ecosystem and diversity restoration efforts such as establishing pollinator gardens and reforestation initiatives.
We collaborate with schools to create educational gardens that teach youth about preserving bees, butterflies, and other essential pollinators.
Strategy 2: Public Education
Public involvement is the backbone of impactful environmental action. We work to educate communities on best sustainability practices that minimize ecological harm.
Our programs raises awareness of how daily habits intersect with ecological conservation while emphasizing individual and collective responsibility. For instance, we develop curriculum for K-12 classrooms on waste reduction and wise resource use to instill conservation values from an early age. We also hold community workshops on green infrastructure to showcase affordable ways that let towns limit their environmental footprint.
Education is key to mobilizing grassroots action that will leave a livable world for future generations.
Pillar 2: Environment
Pillar 3: Economy
Strategy 1: Facilitate Access
We often see resources and opportunities that provide economic stability being unevenly distributed, especially for marginalized groups. TSEDAL works diligently to ensure our focus communities will have fair and equal access to training as well as tools that can enhance their financial well-being.
Strategy 2: Empowerment
Our 3-pronged empowerment strategy involves:
-
Provide educational programs and workshops on financial literacy, business planning, and money management.
-
Train qualified program participants in/on high-demand vocational skills that redefine "environmental jobs" such as Agro-ecology and Green Tech.
-
Equip with materials and supplies that help translate skills into income.
By educating, training, and equipping, we build participant capacity and confidence for economic self-sufficiency. We meet trainees at their level, then ensure they leave truly empowered to materially improve their livelihood. The exact outcome looks different for each person, but the constant remains the same - enhanced capability.
